Laura & Luke's Wedding at The Highland Loft | Elgin, IL
Laura & Luke were married at the Highland Loft in Elgin on May 14, 2022. Another wonderful couple I had the pleasure of photographing their engagement (remember the vintage Ford? See it here) and now we've completed their wedding day. What a day it was!
To say that Laura is in control is an understatement but in the BEST way. From day one she wanted to know timelines, and what items she would need for her flat lay detail shots. We met at Starbucks a few months before the wedding day to go over the little items and ideas she had in mind for her photos. The incredible attention to detail she had for her reception table centerpieces was magnificent. Even the arrangement of the head table was unique. I cannot express how happy it made me to work with a bride who was so organized, knew what she wanted, and we were both on the same page from day one.
She wanted a first look each with her bridesmaids, her father, and Luke. They both insisted they get to be at their cocktail hour, and we made that happen. I snuck them out of their reception at sunset to get even just a few quick photos of the two of them and managed to get them back in with very people realizing they were even gone, and yet we created some amazing photos in a short amount of time.
The best part of this entire day (at least as a photographer) was having such a sweet, sensitive groom. I've had very few grooms that were willing to show emotion, but while getting Luke ready for his first look with Laura, he was already tearing up. By the time he turned around and ran to her, Sierra and I were almost in tears ourselves at how sweet a moment it was that they shared. NEVER underestimate the value of a quiet, time-alone first look with your significant other. Many couples fear that there won't be a genuine reaction when the other officially walks down the aisle, and Luke has managed to prove this theory completely wrong!
Congratulations, Laura & Luke. All of the hard work, prepping, planning, and waiting paid off. It was another amazing day for us and we hope you enjoy all the wonderful memories you've created!
