Megan & Javier's Wedding at Mercantile Hall | Burlington, WI | Walworth County
It's like rain.... on your wedding day. And boy, did it RAIN. I went into the day expecting an unhappy bride since plans were to have an outdoor ceremony, but I arrived to find Megan still all smiles as she was finishing her hair and makeup at the hotel. The bridal squad was packed into two rooms, but despite the pouring rain, the mood was nothing short of happy.
After a few headshots, I headed over to the Mercantile Hall, to get the lay of the land in a new venue. Mercantile is a gorgeous renovated lofty space with modern touches, and we developed a plan for the indoor change for the ceremony. The guys soon arrived and they were in even better spirits than the girls.
First looks with Megan, her dad, and her son were so sweet, and Megan was more emotional than anyone. She held it together long enough to get a "non-look" first look with Javier, before heading down the aisle.
Family and bridal party formals ended, and just as they did, so did the rain! I swept them outside where the ceremony was originally to take place, and we got some great shots of them before the rain set in again. Someone was definitely on our side when I prayed for just a tiny 15-minute break in the weather if nothing more than to get some beautiful couples' portraits with them.
After dinner the DJ brought out the beats and almost every guest hit the dancefloor at some point, then we wrapped the night with a few cigars before more storms hit. They say rain on your wedding day is a good sign, and I truly believe that's the case for these two. Sure, things didn't go according to plan, but I honestly believe they turned out for the best, and the rain forced us all to get a little creative and get nice and close to celebrate this amazing couple.
